A homeowner has offered to sell a property to the Housing Trust.
We need the community’s help to preserve this home as permanent affordable housing!
Project Details:
This home is one of the longest-standing homes located within the historically-black Junaluska community.
We have formed a project partnership with the Junaluska Heritage Association to raise the funds for the land and identify a Junaluska community member to purchase the home.
If this home were to sell on the open market, there is a high likelihood a new buyer would demolish and redevelop the home on the property. This is our chance to help preserve it.
We have signed an offer to purchase contract with a homeowner to secure this opportunity and provided $1,000 earnest money toward the price.
This gives us until August 1st to raise the $55,000 necessary to achieve financing and purchase the home.
We need your support:
Over the next 3 months, we will be raising donations for this project, big and small.
Your donation will go directly toward acquiring and fixing the original home on the property for long-term affordable housing.
This project will permanently preserve this home as long-term housing for the Junaluska community.
Beyond this first home, this project will create a fund for future projects to create and conserve additional housing units through community partnerships.
